The Angsty Yogi

Welcome to the brand-new DIY website! Woohoo! Created May 2023

I'm a fiber artist and a digital artist operating out of Denton, Texas.

I make hand-dyed tie-dye and shibori-inspired t-shirts, tapestries, bedsheets, and bandanas. I play around with other textiles like jeans, jackets, and dresses. I try to up-cycle things from the thrift store if I can find something good made of 100% natural fibers. This allows for some really interesting and unique garments. My favorite is a good leopard print that I can dye on top of. I use various other specialty solutions that help bring out the brightness and lock in the color. I get different effects by using different types of processes, such as classic liquid dying, reverse dyeing with color removers, ice dying, and hot water immersion. I was inspired by Denton's local handmade pop-up markets, and thought, "If I could make something and sell it, what would it be?" "Tie-dye, of course!" Waking up the creativity has been such a great experience, and the best thing is the more tie-dye I make, the better it gets. Making it into a small business gives me the ability to replenish my supplies often and keep the ball rolling! Thank you to all my supporters out there! I could not do it without you.

I also use software to create digital art. I work with printing companies to have my one-of-a-kind digital designs printed on fabric and other materials to create blankets, puzzles, and bags. (I love puzzles!) I became interested in digital art when I worked at an independent Copy Store in College Station, Copy Corner. I created simple business cards, logos, flyers, and booklet designs using Adobe Creative Suite. I used tutorial books to teach myself how to use Illustrator and I just fell in love with creating vector art. After that job, I was accepted into nursing school and did not do anything creative for 15 years! What a mistake!
